Sweat Testing Singapore

Stop guessing your hydration. Know exactly what you lose when you sweat.

If you cramp late in a race, feel foggy mid-session, sweat heavily, or struggle to know whether you’re drinking too much or too little, generic hydration advice may not be enough.

A sweat test measures how much fluid and sodium you lose during exercise. At UFIT, we use a wearable sensor during a 30–45 minute moderate to hard treadmill run at goal pace to assess your sweat rate and sodium concentration. This will help guide your hydration strategy and electrolyte plan for training, racing and recovery.

Sweat testing is ideal for runners, triathletes, and high level HYROX athletes who want a hydration strategy for training, racing and recovery. It is especially useful if you train in Singapore’s heat and humidity, sweat heavily, experience cramps, fatigue or headaches during longer sessions, or struggle to maintain performance in hot conditions.

At UFIT, sweat testing measures your individual sweat rate and sodium loss, giving you clear data to guide how much fluid and sodium you may need before, during and after exercise.

Meet a UFIT fitness professional at one of our hubs for a complimentary 45-minute health consultation. You'll be required to fill in a pre-consult questionnaire so we can understand more about your pregnancy/post partum.

Once you’ve committed, we will share all your information with your chosen strength coach & pilates instructor and book you in for your initial sessions. We'll also recommend which Circle of Care services we think will be best for you.

How The Test Works

UFIT is currently the only place in Singapore offering dynamic, exercise-based sweat testing. This is a clinic-based performance assessment, not a medical or laboratory diagnostic test.

Session Format

The session will take place at UFIT Club Street and will last 60 minutes in total.

Pre-session consultation
1. Pre-session consultation

we start with a short consultation to understand your training background, goals, medical history, medication use, hydration habits and target test pace.

Sensor Application
2. Sensor application

your practitioner will prepare the skin and apply a small adhesive sensor to the outer upper arm.

Active run
3. Active run

you’ll run continuously on the treadmill for 30–45 minutes at a moderate to hard, sustainable effort or target pace. The goal is to collect enough active sweating time for meaningful data.

Debrief
4. Post-session review

after the run, your practitioner will review your sweat profile, including your sweat rate, sodium loss rate, electrolyte loss rate and estimated fluid deficit.

5. Findings and next steps

we’ll walk you through your results in plain language and explain how they can inform your hydration and fuelling strategy. Where appropriate, we may recommend a follow-up consultation with the UFIT Nutrition team to help translate your results into a practical plan for training and race day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the test require physical activity? Yes, a small wearable sensor is applied to your upper arm, then you run for 30–45 minutes at a moderate to hard, sustainable effort or target pace. The sensor measures your sweat rate and sodium concentration in real time. 
How accurate is the test? While not a laboratory-grade assessment, this test provides a sufficiently accurate baseline to support practical decisions around fluid and sodium replacement for most recreational runners.
How should I prepare? We’ll send you all the pre-prep information, but you’ll need to arrive hydrated as you normally would, skip lotion, cream, or sunscreen on your forearms (it affects the sensor), and wear running gear that gives easy access to your upper arm.
Will this stop me from cramping? We can't promise that — cramping has several possible causes, and hydration is one factor among them. What this test gives you is a clear picture of your individual sweat rate and sodium loss, so you can build a more informed hydration plan.
Is this only useful in hot weather? It's especially relevant in Singapore's heat and humidity, but understanding your individual sweat response is useful for training and racing in any condition.
What should I bring? Running shoes, a change of clothes (showers are available on site), and a water bottle.
Is this a medical test?

This is a clinic-based sweat testing service, designed to support performance, hydration, and fuelling strategies. It is NOT a laboratory diagnostic test and does not replace medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.

Sweat testing is a low-risk exercise-based assessment, but safety screening focuses on exercise tolerance, cardiovascular stability, and thermoregulation risk, not the sweat measurement itself.

What's your cancellation policy? We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Appointments cancelled or missed with less than 24 hours' notice forfeit the full appointment fee, and all purchases are final.
How do I translate this to outdoor running in Singapore?  Expect approximately 15–20% greater fluid and total sodium losses when applying indoor test results to Singapore's outdoor conditions.
