Our Approach
UFIT Performance Screening helps to maximise your athletic potential by using data from a range of performance assessments. Our two main tests are VO2 max testing and Blood Lactate Profile.
Testing can now be carried out using your OWN bike allowing for a much stronger crossover form testing to real-life performance.
What are the benefits?
Performance assessments are essential for setting fitness benchmarks, evaluating progress and identifying any specific areas of fitness that should be focused on. Three key benefits include:
- Measure your current fitness level to identify any potential weaknesses
- Set extremely accurate training zones
- Track your progress over time
VO2 Max Testing
This test will assess your cardiorespiratory fitness, which is the gold standard measurement in assessing fitness. Upon completion of the test, specific heart rate training zones can be established in order to highly individualise training programmes. This will better inform your training intensities and allow you to train more precisely. The test can be performed on both a treadmill or a bicycle. It is an incremental test, starting at a slow speed and gradually increases in intensity until exhaustion.
Blood Lactate Profile
This test will establish an individual's lactate profile. Lactate accumulates in the blood in response to increasing work intensity and is the most important marker in endurance performance. This threshold identifies the highest work intensity (speed or power output) that can be maintained for long periods of time. The test can be performed on both a treadmill or a bicycle. It is an incremental test, starting at a slow speed and gradually increases in intensity until exhaustion. At each increment of intensity, a finger blood sample is taken and analysed. This is a sub-maximal test meaning that the individual does not need to continue until close to exhaustion.
