How Amos Overcame Fear, Built Strength & Found His Power at UFIT Singapore
For most of his life, fear dictated Amos' decisions.
It shaped his identity, held him back from opportunities, and fed insecurities he had carried for years. Once a competitive athlete with dreams of making the national team, a genetic blood disorder changed everything. Repeated internal and external bleeding injuries forced him to step away from sport, while his peers went on to achieve the goals he once shared.
“It took a huge toll on me, mentally and physically,” Amos recalls.
But in the last 12 weeks, everything changed.
Choosing Courage: Starting a 12-Week Strength Transformation
When Amos signed up for UFIT Singapore’s Ignition Program, he knew he was ready to go all in. Fear wasn’t going to run his story anymore. Strength was.
He set ambitious goals from day one:
✔️ 100kg bench press
✔️ 100kg squat
✔️ 150kg deadlift
Big numbers, but backed by even bigger commitment.
A Smart, Structured Program: Daily Undulating Periodisation
To help him build strength efficiently and safely, his personal training coach designed a daily undulating periodisation programme (DUP), a proven training method used by strength athletes.
His training week included:
Deadlift Day
Squat Day
Bench Day
Each session focused on different rep ranges to stimulate strength, hypertrophy, and power. The programme ran in three-week cycles, repeated three times before transitioning to a new block, maintaining progress while managing fatigue.
Rebuilding After Years Away from the Gym
Amos hadn’t lifted seriously in years. Returning to heavy strength work wasn’t easy.
“It was tough on my body,” he says. “I was sore all the time. And bulking was a challenge, eating that much was something my body wasn’t used to.”
But his coach, Kieran, kept reminding him:
Enjoy the process.
Have grace for yourself.
Progress takes time.
And Amos learned to trust it, even on the days he wanted to quit.
“I’d wake up and think, I don’t want to train. But then I’d remember: this is for me. No one else can do this.”
The Results: From 70kg Squats to 150kg Deadlifts
When Amos began, his 10-rep maxes were:
70kg squat
60kg deadlift
50kg bench press
12 weeks later, he smashed every single target:
110kg squat for 5 reps
150kg deadlift for 3 reps
90kg bench press for 3 reps
His coach sums it up simply:
“He’s crushing it.”
Going Beyond Strength: Running, VO₂ Max & HYROX Preparation
Amos didn’t stop at strength training.
He also completed:
✔️ Podiatry-led running assessment, to improve technique and reduce injury risk
✔️ VO₂ Max testing, to understand his fitness, zone training ranges, and heart rate data
✔️ HYROX programming, a complete plan integrating strength + endurance
This holistic approach allowed his running coach to integrate strength and conditioning into a personalised HYROX training plan.
More Than a Client, A Community Builder
But beyond the numbers and the lifts, there’s something else people notice about Amos: his energy. He walks into the gym and lights it up. He says hello to every trainer, chats with members he’s never met, and brings positivity into every session. Even when pushing himself to the edge, often too hard, he inspires the people training around him. “Everyone appreciates him for that,” his Kieran says. “He works incredibly hard, and he lifts up the people around him.”
A Story of Progress, Patience & Personal Power
Looking back on the last three months, Amos sees proof of something deeper:
That strength is built with patience.
That discipline conquers fear.
And that when you show up, even on the hard days, progress becomes inevitable.
His journey is a reminder that your story is yours to reclaim.
And Amos is only just getting started.
