Stuart Bauld (@sb_functionalperformance) is an Exercise Physiologist who has played semi-professional football in both UK and Australia. He began working in the fitness industry in 2012 while living and studying in Sydney, Australia. Whilst there, he developed a passion for exercise physiology; specifically how the body responds to acute and chronic bouts of exercise. His undergraduate degree in Sport Science together with his post graduate Masters’ Degree in Strength and Conditioning have further enabled him to develop a strong understanding of applied exercise physiology, as well as develop his knowledge on the importance of controlling the variables of exercise in order to achieve specific training goals. Working as a Sport Scientist for a number of professional football clubs in the UK, Stuart has experience in physiological assessment as well as monitoring training loads in order to maximise training adaptation whilst minimising fatigue and injury incidence.
Stuart specialises in sport-specific strength and conditioning, corrective exercise, physiological testing and nutritional guidance. He has also applied structured, individualised training programs to develop a variety of goals including fat-loss, increasing lean muscle mass, maximal strength and explosive power. Working within professional sport has allowed Stuart to understand the importance of testing and monitoring in order to guide the training process and measure the effectiveness of any training intervention.
Stuart believes that movement competency is a core principle of training; with all programs commencing with a movement screen to identify any significant movement limitations or dysfunctions from which an individualised program is then assembled from.
