I started my journey in the fitness industry when I joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) of the United Kingdom, as a Physical Training Instructor when I was 18. I spent most of my military career at recruit training bases, where my main aim was to ensure all service men and women were fit for elite operations around the world. This consists of anything from developing the air crew conditioning programme for fast jet pilots, to loaded boot runs with front-line soldiers.
I love a challenge – from Ironman Triathlons to 40-mile ultramarathons, I’ve pretty much swam, cycled, and ran every distance in between! I have been lucky enough to travel around the world representing the RAF and UK Armed Forces playing hockey, netball, snowboarding, and all kinds of adventurous training activities. For me it isn’t about the winning or breaking any records, it’s about seeing how far I can push my mind and body. It’s amazing what we are capable of!
As a coach, I use my military experience to help my clients unlock their fullest potential. I understand how far I can push them physically, but also what it takes to achieve that mentally. My style of strength and conditioning training will always be based around fundamental movement patterns, getting the basics right, and progressing by following a structured training plan.
The best part of coaching for me is being a part of their journey and seeing my clients achieve their goals – however big or small it may seem.
