UFIT Recipes: Pork and Beef Meatballs with Creamy Avocado Sauce

Having a craving for meatballs but apprehensive about grabbing frozen ones off the shelves in the supermarket? Follow the below for a hearty and delicious recipe that you can have on its own, or with pasta if you'd prefer!

Pork and Beef Meatballs with Avocado Sauce




  1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  2. 1 red onion, peeled and diced

  3. 2 cloves garlic, crushed

  4. 300g beef mince

  5. 300g pork mince

  6. ½ cup chopped fresh parsley

  7. 1 tsp smoked paprika

  8. 3 tsp ground cumin

  9. 3 tsp ground coriander

  10. 1 egg

  11. ¼ cup pinenuts

  12. Salt and pepper


  1. In a small frying pan add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and fry the red onion and garlic until onion is soft.

  2. In a large mixing bowl add the cooked onion and garlic, beef mince, pork mince, parsley, paprika, cumin, coriander, egg, salt and pepper.

  3. In a small frying pan add the pinenuts and toast until just golden then add to the other ingredients.


  4. Using your hands or a wooden spoon mix all the ingredients together until well-combined.


  5. Line a separate tray with baking paper and roll the mixture into ping pong size balls, place on the tray when you have finished all the mixture place the tray in the fridge for 20 minutes to help the balls firm up.


  6. Just before you are ready to cook pre heat the oven to 180° and line another baking tray with baking paper.


  7. In a medium fry pan add enough extra virgin olive oil to coat the bottom of the pan and gently add in the meatballs. Cook and turn until they are golden on both sides then transfer to the other baking tray. Repeat this process until all the meatballs have been cooked.


  8. Place in the oven for 5 minutes or until meatballs are cooked through.


Avocado Dressing



  1. 2 avocados

  2. 2 tbsp Tahini Paste

  3. 1 clove garlic

  4. Sea salt and black pepper

  5. Juice ½ lemon

  6. Water



  1. Place the avocados, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper into a blender and blend adding a little water as you go until it becomes a smooth consistency.


Thinly sliced red cabbage, cucumber sticks, avocado dressing, Lettuce cups

To Serve: Gently peel some leaves from the lettuce, top with some cucumber sticks, sliced red cabbage, meatballs and avocado dressing.

Note: You can use the meatballs in a pasta sauce or simply have on their own. Another alternative is to make them into burger patties instead of meatballs.
